There were a lot of Raptors fans at the previous game in Detroit this season, but nowhere close to the number who showed up on Friday night to see the “visitors” come away with an easy win.
Toronto supporters always travel well, but with the border so close and the game coming on a weekend, this was a complete takeover from start to finish. They were loud from the start, chanted “MVP” for Pascal Siakam, saluted Kyle Lowry at every opportunity. Meanwhile, frustrated Pistons supporters chanted things like “You’re too big and tall to be this soft,” to underachieving big man Andre Drummond, who could well be in his final days with the team with the trade deadline only days away.
When head coach Nick Nurse walked off the floor the fans bellowed. Nurse looked up, smiled and raised his hand, giving them a thumb’s up. Afterward, Nurse talked about how fun it is to basically have a home game on the road.
